Ex-Probation Officer Arrested for Child Porn Charges in Lubbock
A former Lubbock probation officer is in police custody after being arrested on child pornography charges. On October 12 the Lubbock Police Department and SWAT partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to perform a check of a Lubbock home.
A Homeland Security Agent was notified that a Lubbock internet user had uploaded photos of two children online. The photos were not lewd but messages did reveal that 56-year-old Sergio Velasquez had intentions to obtain naked photos of the two children, who he knew personally. KAMC news reports that Velasquez had actually distributed around 600 files showcasing some sort of child sexual abuse, including infants. Velasquez did admit in his online posts that he knew the children in the photo and had some sort of sexual contact with one of them.
It wasn't until that Friday, October 13, that Velasquez was arrested in the 2900 block of 107th Street for Distribution of Child Pornography. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office did make a statement via social media stating that Velasquez was not an employee with the Sheriff's Office. They did state that Velasquez started back in February for two weeks but quit before being able to complete the new hire class that was required to become a full probation officer.
