Texas is home to thousands of dogs that are in need of adopters. From little chihuahuas to big-ol great danes, and everything in between, there are so many amazing pups that deserve to find their forever home.

While there are so many great shelters and rescues in Texas that do all they can to find their dogs homes, sometimes the right person simply doesn’t live in the area. That is why one clever kid came up with Project Freedom Ride.

This organization takes dogs from Texas and Georgia and transports them to the Norther US and British Columbia so they can find their forever home.

The founder of Project Freedom Ride, Roman McConn came up with the idea when he was only 5 years old. Since then, they have saved nearly 5,000 dogs (as of August 2023).

The dogs that are transported via this organization are typically united with their new families who found saw them online and found that they would be a great fit for their family. At other times, they will transfer dogs to other shelters around the country where they have more space for the dog and can potentially find them an adopter there.

Saving Grace Rescue is an example of organizations that work with Project Freedom Ride in Lubbock, Texas. It is a great way to give these dogs a chance at a new life and live as happy as can be.

You can find more information about Project Freedom Ride, as well as see adoptable dogs, at projectfreedomride.org.
