There Were 64 Felony Arrests In Smith County In Last Week Of February
As with any city or county in the state of Texas law enforcement come into contact with all kinds of people and situations. Some interactions are good and some are not so good. It's these not-so-good encounters that usually end up with someone going to jail for a variety of reasons.
While officers try to do their best to defuse the situation and try to avoid taking someone to jail, often the suspect leaves the officer(s) no choice and they must take them into custody because of their actions.
Felony Offenses Resulting In Arrests
Recently Smith County law enforcement along with officers from Tyler, Lindale, Whitehouse, and other police departments arrested individuals on the following felony offenses:
- possession of illegal drugs
- driving while intoxicated times 3
- driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15
- aggravated assault
- child abandonment
- assault of a pregnant person
During the last week of February, 196 individuals were booked into the Smith County Jail. Of the 196, more than 60 individuals are now facing at least one felony charge.
