What's Happening

Some Lubbock churches (and old folks) have already resorted to "Reefer Madness" claims about the downfall of society when it comes to Lubbock's proposition A. Apparently, all the souls that needed to be saved have been saved and they're going to focus on telling cannabis enthusiasts how to live their lives. This is where churches really muck it up in my opinion, nobody really cares about what they do, we only care when you tell others what not to do.

Proposition A

The proposition calls for reduced enforcement of low-level pot possession. It's not a law that creates more pot smokers, it's a law that keeps people from being arrested and having their lives turned upside down because they smoke pot. That vote will be on May the 4th and you can find out more information here. As to claims that it "Handcuffs law enforcement from doing their job"again, that's hyperbole and a fright tactic.

The Panic

Did you know that with about four ounces of marijuana "is enough to make 241 joints"? This is one of the claims that brought a huge smile to my face. I also would not be writing this were it not for the "Protect Lubbock" signs I saw on my walk. If you want to tell me that this "Isn't right for Lubbock" or something of that nature I'd at least see your viewpoint, but this kind of language makes it very clear that you have no idea what the heck you're talking about.

Deja Vu?

Does anybody else get the feeling we've been through this before? There have already been church gatherings to fight this ordinance. There are already insults and outright lies being spread. There are already thousands of hypocrites who've puffed in the past who know that the effects of this law would be nebulous. Yes, it's the vote for alcohol in the city limits all over again. Alcohol didn't destroy Lubbock, and marijuana use (which is already a thing) won't destroy it either.

Smoke it, Or No?

I do not have a dog in this fight. My pot days are behind me. I would say my very elderly stepfather's days were made much more pain-free and manageable due to marijuana (He lived in Oklahoma). It's also ridiculous that there's so much legal weed just across the state line(s). What I will say is, if your church is trying to tell you how to vote, then find another church.

Craving Queso? Here Are The Cheesiest, Goey-ist Options In Lubbock

Is there anything more addictive than a high-quality queso? Or, is anything more disappointing than a bad one? If you want to be sure you get a great cup of queso, here's a look at some of Lubbock's very best choices for melty, yummy Mexican cheese dip.
