But First, Where Did Taco Tuesday Come From?

Everywhere and nowhere, apparently. While there is a copyright holder for Taco Tuesday (Taco John's in the Midwest?), in practice, it has been pretty much fair use for local taco shops to use.

The earliest extant advertisement for Taco Tuesday dates back to the 1930s! It does not specifically use "Taco Tuesday" but instead advertises that there is a deal on Tacos on Tuesday. The earliest example of Taco tuesday per se is from the early 1970s- and it was not Taco John's that used it.  So there.
