Lubbock has a lot going for it, but we are still missing several big things that the majority of cities our size seem to have. This isn't about bashing Lubbock for being behind the times. It's more about daydreaming, just a little, about the things we could have someday if the right person comes along and makes it happen.

Here are some things most of us agree would fit right in.

A Public Pool

This one is just ridiculous. I'll never understand how a city this big doesn't have a single public pool, especially after growing up in the 90s when there were several great places to swim.

An Aquarium

Nobody is asking for SeaWorld. Just a couple of fish, turtles, and a little afternoon of educational fun with your kids that doesn't require a road trip.

More Late-Night Food Options

People working the night shift are really tired of Whataburger and IHOP. We need more places that are open late or 24/7.

More Public Art

We've got some statues around and some pretty cool murals, but they are few and far between. You can never have too many colorful places and interesting sculptures for people to visit and take photos with. We need WAY more.

An Observation Deck

What about a building you visit specifically to check out our sunsets? They are so great, they deserve a place to go for a better view.

More Local Festivals

We always need more ways to bring outsiders to Lubbock to spend money with our local businesses. More festivals and reasons to come to town would be a great way to make that happen.
