Lubbock Ranks Among Worst Coffee Cities in America, Survey Says
Love coffee? Lubbock might break your heart.
How much do you love your coffee? What if I told you that when it comes to coffee, Lubbock kind of… well… stinks? A new Wallethub survey ranked the “Best Coffee Cities in America,” and Lubbock didn’t just miss the top — it almost missed the list entirely.
📉 Lubbock Lands Near the Bottom As A Coffee City
Lubbock came in at 96th out of 100 cities in the Wallethub study, which is about as low as an ant’s belly. This disappointing showing came despite one bright spot: Lubbock actually ranked 4th in the country for having the lowest price on a package of coffee beans. Bargain beans, yes. Coffee culture, not so much.
💸 Cappuccino Costs Drag the Score
One major anchor on Lubbock’s score was the price of cappuccino. It’s oddly specific, but Lubbock ranked 99th out of 100 for cappuccino cost — and only avoided dead last because one city didn’t even sell them.
📊 Measuring “Coffee Culture”
The survey didn’t just look at prices. It also considered “Affordable Coffee Shops, Coffee Houses, and Cafés,” along with “Coffee Events” and several other factors that build up a city’s overall coffee culture. That’s where Lubbock lagged the most.

☕ A Surprising Result
It’s surprising because Lubbock seems to have more local coffee options than ever before. Still, according to this data, the Hub City hasn’t yet percolated into a true coffee-lover’s paradise.
