Extreme Heat Expected For All of Texas This Week
For some, it may seem like summer is just about over. Kids heading back to school soon, preseason NFL football on TV, and some stores even have Halloween items on the shelves. But summer isn't over, and across Texas this week, we will feel the tight grip of summer.
Get ready Texans, this could be the hottest week of year.
While this summer has been hot, it hasn't been as intense as previous years, but this week will test our air conditioners and car batteries. According to the ExpressNews.com, the weather pattern this week will bring the hottest temperatures of the year to Texas and many parts of the state will see high temperatures well above 100 degrees.
Hottest Week of the Year for Texas
Monday will actually be the least hot day (I refuse to write coolest when talking about high's in the 90's) across the state. High temperatures will range from the mid-90's right around 100 degrees.
By Wednesday much of the state will face temperatures over 100 degrees. Abilene could see temperatures around 109 degrees by Wednesday while Dallas-Fort Worth could see temperatures hit around 105 degrees. Lubbock will see high temperatures on Wednesday at about 105 degrees. San Antonio and Austin could see high temperatures hot around 102-105 degrees this week. And while temperatures are expected to be high, the "feels like" temperature could reach 110 or higher.
A "Cool Down" For the Weekend
The good news is that we could actually see temperatures drop for the weekend beginning Friday with Lubbock's high at around 98 and 95 for Saturday. Temperatures in Dallas will drop to around 99 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday.
But don't get too excited as temperatures will pop back up for next week and many parts of the state will see triple digit heat again for the entire week.
Just another reminder that summer isn't going anywhere just yet.
