McLaren is about to release a new car that is aimed at the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and the Audi’s Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracan.

Making a cheaper car is a departure for McLaren, who usually sticks to the hyper/supercar market and does so well. So, is the new McLaren 570S a worthy little sibling?

The 570S looks like a toned-down McLaren P1, still having the side air-vents for the rear wheels, weird, but loveable rear, and a face that has a big grin.

Gearheads.org reports that the 570S will have a 562-wheel horse power twin-turbocharged V8 mated to a 7 speed transmission. The 570S will have carbon ceramic brakes. The chassis is reported by McLaren to only weigh about 203 pounds, and is made of carbon fiber. 0-60 time is 3 seconds, with the ability to get 25.5 miles per gallon.

All those numbers are very impressive when placed next to its peers.

No pricing has been set for the 570S, but expect it in the $100,000-$200,000 range, which is where its rivals reside price-wise.

If you are in the market for a Porsche, check out the McLaren first. It is way more beautiful, mid-engined and isn’t, well, boring like a Porsche.

Don’t get me wrong, Porsches are great cars. But they all look the same and just don’t really stand out anymore.

The McLaren 570S is none of these things, and will cost around the same.

The picture in this post is the McLaren MP4-12C, which looks almost exactly like the 570S.
