Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen released House committee assignments for the 86th Legislative Session on Wednesday and for Lubbock-area Representatives, it was a good day.

District 83 Representative Dustin Burrows will take over a chairman of the Texas House Ways and Means committee. Current House Speaker Dennis Bonnen was the previous chairman of the tax-writing committee. Burrows was also appointed to the House Elections committee.

In a press release, Burrows said this session will be critical to address tax reform.

"This is going to be a critical session to address tax reform," said Rep. Dustin Burrows. “Taxpayers are looking for solutions this legislative session and I share Speaker Bonnen's optimism that we are going to be successful moving forward."

Rep. Burrows continued, “I am looking forward to fighting for all Texans this legislative session. I believe this committee will give taxpayers a strong voice as we look to keep Texas the best state in the nation to raise a family. I want to thank Speaker Bonnen for trusting me with this important committee assignment."

District 84 Representative John Frullo will be vice chairman of the House International Relations and Economic Development committee. Frullo was also appointed to two important committees. He will sit on the Calendars committee and the House committee on Higher Education.
