On Tuesday, September 14th, the Plainview City Council confirmed that Bobby Gipson would be the new Plainview Fire/EMS Chief.

As the newly appointed Fire Chief, Gipson will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and strategic plans of the Fire/EMS Department effective immediately.

Gipson has been with the City of Plainview for over 32 years, serving various positions from Firefighter all the way to Captain. The most recent position that he held was the Interim Fire Chief. Gipson held that position for 7 months.

In a press release from the City of Plainview, they detailed how Gipson was a certified Firefighter and Paramedic, on top of having obtained a Certified Public Manager Accreditation through the Texas Tech University Public Administration Program.

When talking about Gipson's appointment, Plainview City Manager Jeffrey Snyder said this:

Gipson has done an excellent job over these past several months. I am excited to have Bobby serve as our next Fire Chief and looking forward to working with him as he leads our Fire Department.

Gipson himself had this to say in regards to his new position:

I am honored to have been chosen as the new Fire Chief. I have dedicated my entire career to the Plainview community and I look forward to serving our community in my new role.
