Thursday on the evening edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Hasty talked about the Texas Heartbeat Act (SB-8), which reached Governor Greg Abbott's desk last week. The law would ban abortions in Texas when a heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks.

Hasty expounded on the arguments that always surround right-to-life and pro-choice debates, and shared his basic beliefs on the issue.

"So what gives a man or a woman, or lawmakers or anyone else, what gives them the right to tell another person what they can or can not do? They're trying to preserve life. That's all they're trying to do. They're trying to speak up for those who cannot defend themselves. They're trying to protect those who are defenseless. They're trying to protect life...They're trying to protect an innocent life," Hasty said.

He continued,

When Republicans, when conservatives, when the pro-life movement wants to save one life, wants to save one baby, the Democrats get upset about it and they throw a fit. They say that this is, "How dare you trying to control another person, you trying to..." How about we're trying to save another person. How about that?...You're not necessarily trying to control one, you're trying to save one. Someone who is completely innocent, has done nothing wrong, has done nothing to hurt anyone else. Someone who has the future, complete future ahead of them. And that's who you're trying to save. And that's the side I want to be on. That's the side I want to be on, I'm comfortable with that.
