Has a Beloved Lubbock Radio Station Run Afoul of Facebook?
We're in trouble.
It seems that sometimes, you can't say whatever you want online or on social media.
This week, we (meaning I) wrote a story about a completely sketch-trashy former convenience store at 82nd and Slide that had been closed and vandalized, and still somehow had a soda machine inside for your refreshment. You can find that story below.
Yeah, the place is a mess, to say the least. Even though, some alert readers pointed out that there has been some progress in renovating the place.
Anyhoo...since we have a "one for all and all for one" policy about our pointless opinions, we thought to share the story with fans of one of our beloved Lubbock broadcast outlets on Facebook. At that point, we got a warning from Evil Zuckerberg.
Apparently, the idea that we (I) implored the City of Lubbock to step up and do something before it becomes a rat's nest of drug addicts and wild bears touched a nerve with the Social Media
Mafia community standards overlords, who thought we were actually trying to incite a torch-waving crowd to send it up in flames.
This is where algorithms and censorship have gone too far. Nuance is completely lost on the autobots, unless there's a humorless human who has no concept of sarcasm on the other side of the screen (which I would actually believe).
If they'd actually read the article, they may understand that it's not incitement, it's observation to enact change. Isn't that what we all really want at the end of the day? Lighten up, Zuckerhead.
If we get banned for this, we're starting an OnlyFans.
