GOP political strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak joined Chad on Monday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show.

On the Governor Rick Perry indictment case, Mackowiak says that the charges are absurd, but still very serious involving 1st and 3rd degree felonies, which could result in significant jail time if convicted. Perry is charged, essentially, with using the threat of a veto of state funding for the Public Integrity Unit, to convince the Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to leave office after her DWI arrest. Mackowiak says that the two charges are filed over Governor Perry using two legal actions in a lawful way.

"You do have a number of liberals and Democrats who said how outrageous this is, it's a long list and includes David Axelrod and Alan Dershowitz, Jonathan Chait of the New Republic, and it's a long list at this point", said Mackowiak.

Mackowiak addressed the rapid calls by Democrats for the Governor's resignation, and talked about possible positive and negative impacts of the case on Perry's run for the White House.

Mackowiak also spoke on the optics of Presidential vacations and the President's apparent disengagement from current events, as well as the Texas Governor's race.
