On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on statewide and nationally.

This week, the Republican National Committee put out a "scathing" report that, in essence, outlined everything that was wrong with the GOP. Mackowiak said the report had lots of blunt and direct advice for the GOP, particularly on digital publicity, party positioning and particularly, immigration. He added on immigration that immigration reform does not automatically mean a path to citizenship, and that Republicans need to take a definitive stance of this issue if they hope to win another election.

Mackowiak went on to say that it was obvious the Republican party was fractured, much like the Democrats were fractured after their loss in 2004. However, for the moment, this fracturing may not be such a bad thing.

"I don't think it's important that the party strictly unify immediately. I think what's important is we have a pretty broad and important discussion about these major issues. But I do think we need to a have set of core principles, and part of that can include trying to solve this immigration problem."
