Texas Tech’s former president has stepped down as president of the University of Alabama.

Guy Bailey took the position in September of 2012, after serving as president of Texas Tech since 2008.

According to Chris Pow of Al.com, Bailey said that he is stepping down from the position, saying “This is a decision my wife Jan and I made together after much discussion about how we can best address her health, which is the most important priority in our lives.”

Texas Tech has appointed Lawrence Schovanec as the interim president of the university, and currently has a search committee looking for candidates to replace Bailey.
