
Former Postal Contractor Admits to Stealing Over $4 Million in Mail

A former postal contractor at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport admitted to stealing over $4 million in mail as part of a guilty plea.
22 year-old Joe Roy Rivas III admitted to stealing mail along with 35 year-old Jessica Lynn Solomon from Spring 2019 to February 2021. Rivas and Solomon were employed by Cargo Force, Inc., a company that the United States Postal Service contracts to load and unload mail from flights in Lubbock.
Authorities received a tip about stolen mail at Rivas and Solomon’s home in Slaton. A search was conducted and several trash bags filled with stolen mail were found. In total, $4,022,474.94 in stolen checks were found.
Rivas faces up to 5 years in federal prison. Meanwhile, Solomon pleaded not guilty. Her trial is set to begin on January 10th, 2022.
