A former Big Spring resident has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for emailing an obscene video to an undercover law enforcement officer.

Paul Harvilicz of Copperas Cove was sentenced on Friday following his August 2013 guilty plea to an indictment charging one count of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Harvilicz communicated with a person which he believed to be a 15-year-old girl from May to October of 2011.

In June of 2011, Harvilicz emailed the person an obscene video file, depicting an adult male and female engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The person was an undercover law enforcement officer in Kentucky.

Harvilicz has been in custody since his arrest in Waco on March 27th on related charges.
