The injury count in now up to 12 after a morning fire at University Medical Center in Lubbock.  11 people suffered smoke inhalation and a construction worker suffered minor burns. All of the injuries were classified as minor.

KAMC 28 reports the fire started around 10a Thursday morning when a welder accidentally hit an oxygen line in the basement of UMC. The fire was put out by 11a as parts of the hospital were evacuated.

The Southwest Cancer Center at UMC may be closed Friday due to damage from the fire.
