Fire Breaks Out at O.L. Slaton Middle School

Thursday evening, a fire broke out at a Lubbock ISD middle school.  The fire started around 5 o'clock in the auditorium of O.L. Slaton Middle School.  The fire was contained to the stage and everyone on campus was evacuated safely. KAMC 28 reports that one person suffered minor injuries.

According to Lubbock ISD, the damage was limited to the stage and smoke in the hallway. A band concert planned for tonight and the theater production this weekend were both canceled. Events scheduled for the gym on Thursday night were also canceled.

Classes at O.L. Slaton will follow a normal schedule on Friday, December 13. Parents were notified of the incident via Lubbock ISD's automated calling system.
