Fall Is Coming To Texas, Are We Done With Hot Weather?
Good news for those that love Fall. On Sunday, it's officially Fall in the United States. Yes, even here in Texas where some parts of the state will still experience warm temperatures. But the end to hot weather is within sight and many will be happy about that.
But remember, just because fall has arrived, or at least will soon arrive, doesn't mean you will need to break out the light jackets just yet.
When is the Autumnal Equinox in 2024?
The Autumnal Equinox, Fall, arrives on Sunday, September 22.
So what does that mean for the weather in Lubbock and throughout Texas? Well, it depends. Whether it's because of Fall or because the South Plains Fair is in town, those of us in and around Lubbock are expected to see high temperatures in the upper 70's beginning Sunday. Also on Sunday? Rain is in the forecast for Lubbock and our surrounding areas, at least a chance of rain is in the forecast. High's starting Sunday are expected to be in the upper 70's and low 80's next week.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area will still see hot temperatures on Sunday, but rain and high's in the 80's are expected for Monday.
Is Texas Done With Hot Temperatures for 2024?
While Fall arrives on Sunday, that doesn't mean that the whole state is done with hot temperatures. Even though parts of the state will see a cool down on Sunday and the beginning of next week, it's very possible that we will still see temperatures in the upper 80's, 90's and you can't rule out triple digit heat just yet. Once October arrives though, the triple digit heat is rare.
So get ready for Fall, but don't put away the short sleeves just yet.
