
ERCOT Says Texas Power Grid Is Ready For Potential Winter Storm
Texas residents are looking ahead to the weekend and wondering what the weather will bring to the Lone Star State. Forecast models on Sunday and Monday were showing signs of a potential winter storm on the horizon, and when you bring up winter storm in Texas, many remember the deadly winter storm in 2021.
ERCOT Says the Grid Is Ready For a Winter Storm
ERCOT officials say the Texas power grid will be able to handle a potential winter storm later this week and into the weekend. Back in 2021 a winter storm knocked out power for millions and turned deadly after the power was out for days at a time. Over 200 Texans died during that storm.

According to FOX4 in Dallas, ERCOT officials believe that the grid will be able to handle the demand.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the agency charged with managing the bulk of the state’s power grid, said in a statement Monday they anticipate ample supply to meet demand this winter, based on expected weather conditions.
"ERCOT will continue to deploy all available resources to manage the grid reliably and coordinate closely with the Public Utility Commission, generation providers, and transmission utilities," the agency said in the statement.
Potential Winter Storm In Texas
Forecasts are showing the possibility of snow in the Texas Panhandle and possible storms from West to East Texas beginning Friday evening. But that forecast could change. Wednesday night and into Thursday should show a clearer forecast.
