Lubbock Police were called to the Stripes Convenience store at 6519 University Ave. on the morning of Sunday, January 26, after the clerk on duty got into an altercation with a customer.

The Lubbock Police Department reports the clerk attempted to stop 23-year-old David John Holt as he was backing out of the store in his vehicle with a stolen 2-liter of soda and a package of donuts. The suspect reportedly knocked the clerk over with the open driver’s-side door of his vehicle before fleeing.

KAMC News reports the clerk, Catiana Hyppolipe, was fired the following day for following the suspect outside the store.

After calling police, the clerk provided a license plate number to officers. Officers were able to locate Holt with information provided from the vehicle’s registered owner at his residence.

Officers reported Holt was still in possession of the partially eaten items. Holt was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery. He is being held at the Lubbock County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
