The dam at Lubbock’s main water source must be repaired, according to the City.

Erosion damage has occurred on the dry side of the John T. Montford Dam at Lake Alan Henry, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires that the dam be repaired, and measures taken to prevent further erosion.

Bids are currently being taken by the City of Lubbock to conduct the project, which is estimated to cost around $4 million for the repairs.

The City is accepting bids through October 11th.

The John T. Montford Dam was built from 1991 through 1993, and impounds water in the South Fork of the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River.
