A Lubbock man has been sentenced for possessing child pornography.

25-year-old Cyrus Patrick Yazdani was sentenced Friday morning to almost 5 years in prison, following his November 2011 guilty plea to one count of child pornography.

In June 2011, Yazdani admitted that he had a thumb drive that contained images of child pornography. He downloaded the illicit images from the internet.

U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings sentenced Yazdani to 63 months in federal prison, and ten years of supervised release after the prison sentence is completed. Yazdani originally faced up to 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Lubbock Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
