Tuesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Christye Weld, Vice President of Programs, Services and Events at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce joined Chad in the KFYO studio to talk about the upcoming Hub City BBQ Cookoff.

This will be the 17th year that the Hub City BBQ Cookoff has happened and normal attendance is between 5,000-7,000 people.

Describing what the event will be like, Weld said,

"It is kind of like going to a huge gigantic tailgate, bigger than anything you normally see at a football game or anything. It's on the streets and in the parking lots of downtown so you're just wandering by teams, all corporate teams that have competed to make the best barbecue in town so you'll taste things like brisket, ribs, you may taste stuffed jalapenos, some of the specialty teams are doing things like beans and cornbread, we have drinks, all the drinks are free, we also have non-alcoholic and also beer, as well as the most barbecue you can possibly eat. We also have entertainment, it starts off with Lubbock's own School of Rock, so some local kids are going to be playing really good rock music, and then we're so excited this year we have headliner, Micky and the Motorcars, and that is going to be a fantastic band to listen to."

The Hub City BBQ Cookoff is on Thursday, September 21st from 5-8 p.m. You can get tickets at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce for $25 dollars, on their website at hubcitybbq.com or pay at the gate for $30 dollars.
