On Monday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Congressman Randy Neugebauer talked with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew about the latest issues going on in Washington.

Neugebauer will be attending the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida this week. While he will not be speaking at the convention, he will be interacting with other delegates and attending the speeches. Neugebauer said that the Republican message to the American people has to be the most important part of the convention.

"What I'm hoping that the American people hear and see at this convention is that we actually have a plan for restoring hope and prosperity to this country, and that they should be paying attention to...and contrasting between the Romney/Ryan and Obama/Biden ticket."

Neugebauer also spoke about some of the recent poor comments from the Republican side, specifically comments made by Todd Akin from Missouri and Judge Tom Head in Lubbock. He said that these comments, while they may be making news now, will not be a big factor in the elections. He also said of Judge Head that he is a man who is passionate about what he believes in, and that Neugebauer himself is proud to be from Lubbock. Neugebauer also spoke about the U.S debt, the space program, and the issues Congress will be facing when they return from recess.

You can listen to Congressman Randy Neugebauer Mondays at 7:35 during Lubbock's First News on NewsTalk 790 KFYO.
