Think the great state of Texas is the best state for concealed carry of firearms in the United States? You might want to reconsider.

Guns & Ammo magazine evaluated firearms laws in all fifty states as well as the District of Columbia, then ranked the states from the most restrictive to least.

Surprising are the rankings of states that are surrounding Texas, with Oklahoma ranked at number 28, Colorado 33rd, Arkansas 37th, and New Mexico at number 40.

States topping Texas on the list include Virginia, Wisconsin, and New Hampshire.

Information compiled for the evaluation includes the method of issuance for a license, reciprocity (the number of states that honor licenses from other states), training required, fees for application, self-defense laws in the states, and several other factors.
