It has been about a week or so since the State of New Mexico legalized recreational marijuana sales and already some in New Mexico are getting exactly what they wanted. Texans are showing up in droves to purchase marijuana in a state where it's legal.

According to KLBK, Clovis, New Mexico has been overrun by Texans in search of a dispensary. Of course, a lot of people had an idea that this was going to happen as I wrote at the beginning of April.

Some Texans could be traveling out of some curiosity, but it's obvious that many are actually purchasing marijuana. SWOP Dispensary in Clovis has reportedly seen sales boom thanks to traveling Texans. From

"We definitely have an influx of New Mexicans coming in for sure that don’t have a rec card or a med card rather, but the majority of the influx is definitely from Texas," said John Swopes, general manager at SWOP Dispensary, told KLBK.

Swopes said that since legalization about two-thirds of sales are from customers from Texas.

One Muleshoe resident who was interviewed for the story told the news organization that they have traveled to Clovis almost three times in a week to help with back pain.

While recreational marijuana is legal in New Mexico, it's not in Texas. And just a little bit can get you in a lot of trouble if you're pulled over and caught with it in Texas. Recreational use of marijuana is now legal in 18 states.

I expect the trend to continue and for places like Clovis, Hobbs, and other New Mexico cities near Texas to do well in marijuana sales.
