On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, city secretary Becky Garza talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the newest recall petition against a Lubbock city councilman.

Last week, District 2 resident Gordon Harris filed an affidavit for a recall petition against District 2 Councilman Floyd Price. Garza said that, for this petition, Harris will need to collect 509 valid signatures from District 2 voters by July 15th, with 10% of those signatures verifying that they voted for Price in the last election. However, since Price ran unopposed in the 2012 election, the city will have to go back to those who voted for Price in the 2008 election.

The new petition comes just two weeks after a successful petition to recall District 1 Councilman Victor Hernandez was filed. Garza said if this new petition is successful, Price will be facing a special election in November, along with Hernandez.
