The City of Lubbock is exploring options on development by Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.

James Loomis, Lubbock Airport Director, told KFYO News that the groundwork for retail development is being set on the western edge of city property, by the Silent Wings Museum.

Loomis said, “My hope is that we can ascertain every way we can bring revenue into the city from the airport.”

Loomis also told KFYO that there are no inquiries yet by businesses to develop the land, but the proposal through the city of Lubbock was only submitted today.

Past inquiries about development the past few years about the land by the airport never came to fruition.
