The Lubbock City Council began the process of searching for a new city manager to replace current city manager, James Loomis, at their last regularly scheduled meeting in March.

Slavin Management Consultants will be awarded the contract after a unanimous vote from the council and Mayor Glen Robertson.

Mayor Robertson said Loomis was hired as an at-will employee and had made clear his intentions to retire at the beginning of summer 2016.

“I wish we could get him to stay,” said Mayor Robertson.

Candidates will be presented to the council to vet within 90 days of the beginning of Slavin’s search. At that time the council can choose to extend a conditional offer.

Slavin Management will guarantee the chosen candidate for two years and will conduct another search if the candidate leaves before that time at no additional cost, minus expenses incurred.

Slavin Management Consultants is based in Norcross, Georgia, and was founded in 1988.
