Chick-fil-A and South Plains Food Bank Partner for Food Drive
A restaurant chain has teamed with the South Plains Food Bank for the rest of 2012.
The Chick-fil-A restaurants at 69th Street and Slide Road and 82nd Street and Milwaukee Avenue are hosting a food drive benefitting the South Plains Food Bank.
Anyone bringing five cans of food to either Chick-fil-A location will receive a plush cow.
“We were excited about how supportive the community was during our recent U Can Share Food Drive,” said SPFB Chief Executive Officer David Weaver.
“But we are concerned about the amount of food we will need this year, and we fell a little short of meeting our goal in the area of pounds of food donated. This food drive will hopefully help in that respect,” Weaver continued.
The U Can Share Food Drive raised more than $180,000, which surpassed the $150,000 money goal, but the drive was short about 70,000 pounds from their 500,000 pound goal.
The food drive began on Monday, November 5th, and runs through Saturday, December 31st.
