According to two separate media releases from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), two wanted men were recently apprehended at various ports of entry from Mexico to Texas.
Both men were wanted for either sexual assault of a child or indecent assault and exposure.
Wanted Fugitive in Brownsville, TX
The first apprehension took place at the Los Indios International Bridge Port of Entry in Brownsville, TX, on September 9. This was when border agents sent U.S. citizen Miguel Rolando Echeverria, 78, to secondary inspection.
Echeverria provided biometric verification where it was discovered that he had an outstanding felony warrant out of McHenry County, Illinois, for sexual assault of a minor.
Border agents then arrested Echeverria and sent him to the Cameron County jail as he waits for his trial.
McAllen Airport Arrest Warrant
The second arrest of a wanted individual took place on the same day—September 9—when a 52-year-old arriving from Mexico City on a commercial flight to McAllen airport was caught.
After going through security, officers immediately discovered an active arrest warrant out of Starr County. The man, a lawful U.S. citizen, has been wanted since May of 2025 after being charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecent exposure, both of which are Class-A misdemeanors in the State of Texas.
Law enforcement placed an immigration detainer on the man. Immigration detainers are formal requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hold a potentially dangerous immigrant in a controlled environment rather than allowing them to walk free after serving time in jail or prison.
