Mark Martin of Lubbock's Premier Charter Schools joins Tom Collins and Laura Mac to talk about charter schools.

Nancy Sharp, LISD Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations, joined Lubbock's First News with Tom Collins and Laura Mac to talk about the Lubbock school district graduation ceremonies video that will be live-streamed on the internet. LISD and Texas Tech have teamed up to provide live video of the events for those that cannot attend.

"It is kind of bizarre and I think a lot of people are still very concerned about this nuclear deal," Randy Neugebauer told Lubbock's First News Monday (March 30) concerning Iranian nuclear talks and the nuclear deal that is only one day away.

American entrepreneur and the first candidate hired by The Trump Organization at the conclusion of the first season of Donald Trump's reality show The Apprentice, Bill Rancic joined Lubbock's First News on Tuesday (March 24).

Lubbock's First News with Tom Collins and Laura Mac presented Bailey Scarborough with a check for $130 made out to Brian Ratcliffe, plus a hammock with a stand.

"I'm happy to comply with rules, but I need to be aware of them to be able to comply," Bailey Scarborough of Lubbock told Lubbock's First News with Tom and Laura. Scarborough and her friend Brian Ratcliffe of Dumas, Texas received a ticket back in February for hanging a hammock at Tech Terrace.

Thursday, March 12 marks the National Kidney Foundation's World Kidney Day. World Kidney Day focuses on helping those who have kidney disease live with it and how to prevent kidney failure.

There are 20,000 soil series (different types of soil) in the United States, Dr. David Weindorf, Associate Dean for Research at Texas Tech Plant and Soil Sciences Department, told Tom and Laura Wednesday (March 11). And they all have different impacts on different crops.

Saturday, March 7 marks the 9th annual Severe Weather Awareness Day, hosted by the Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society at Texas Tech University along with staff from the National Weather Service.
