Fun Things to Do at Buffalo Springs Lake Just Outside of Lubbock, Texas this Summer!

Buffalo Springs Lake is really a fantastic recreational area just outside of Lubbock that offers a LOT of fun and family-friendly activities! I’ve lived at the lake since 2017 and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I love my neighbors, the staff, the nice folks at the marina and all of the guests who come out to visit throughout the year.

Here are a few things to do when you’re there.

Ride the trails!

You can bring a mountain bike, a motorcycle or even a full-sized ATV out and hit the many trails around the lake!
One little catch though….you’ll need this sticker. But it’s good all year and is only around $15

Go Fishing!

A lot of people don’t know this, but you can actually fish literally anywhere around the lake where there is a shore that’s not on someone’s private property. I would suggest the crappie house, the dam and the shallows on the slow end for smaller fish that the kids will love to catch!
If you’re a trophy fisherman, bring the boat and hit the fast end for some world class striper fishing. State records have been broken at Buffalo when it comes to striper bass!
Make sure you get a fishing license though!

Hit Up the Marina!

Crystal and her staff at the Texas Twister Marina are truly great people and I’m glad to call them friends. Crystal takes time each week to create delicious specials to go along with the rest of their extensive menu. Last week, she did fried beef ribs with homemade potato salad and collard greens. It was one of the best meals I’ve eaten all year! The rest of the menu is great too!
If you’re not hungry, grab a cold beer or one of their specialty cocktails and sit outside at the gazebo and watch the boats while one of Lubbock’s many talented bands play!

Take a Hike!

There are great trails all over the lake. From beginner to expert, if you like to hike, you’ll love it! There’s even a Texas wildflower preserve that the residents care for that you can see along the way!

Ride Around in a Golf Cart or ATV and See the Sights!

If you live at the lake, you pretty much HAVE to have a golf cart or an ATV. Everybody has one because they’re super easy to get around in and almost all golf carts now have enough battery capacity to last the entire day. I use my golf cart so much, it’s on it’s THIRD set of tires!
You can rent golf carts and ATVs at the little window outside the marina. Or bring your own if you have one! (gate fees apply)
