Buc-ee’s, A Texas Favorite, Accused Of Racial Discrimination in Lawsuit
One of Texans favorite places to stop while on the road in Texas is facing a lawsuit. Buc-ee's is facing a lawsuit from three customers who accuse the company, and in particular, the location in Katy, Texas, of racial discrimination.
According to a report from Chron.com, three customers allege that they were accused of shoplifting last spring. They also accuse the company and store manager of making "racially derogatory comments".

According to the lawsuit, the three plaintiffs were asked to leave Buc-ee's in Katy, TX on April 13, 2024 after they were attempting to check out. They claim their transaction was interrupted, they were accused of theft, and asked to leave. The plaintiffs then allegedly told a manager that they were being discriminated against because they are black.
According to Chron.com, the lawsuit alleges the manager laughed and taunted the three.
The lawsuit alleges a manager then "laughed at Plaintiffs and bragged that he could discriminate based on race" and that the plaintiffs were not allowed to make their purchases. The manager also taunted the three with "racially derogatory comments," the lawsuit says.
The three are seeking over $1 million in damages. The report stated that while Buc-ee's has not commented on this case, they did apparently deny the allegation in a civil answer to the lawsuit.
