On Monday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show this week, Scott Braddock, editor of the Quorum Report, joined the show to discuss the latest news from Austin and the state legislature.

Braddock and Hasty discussed the progress on property tax reform, Joaquin Castro, the ability of Texas counties to recover costs in the wake of the opioid crisis and vote to take a softer stance on marijuana related offenses.

In response to a potential for the ease of marijuana punishment, Braddock said:

Now it just seems to be reducing the severity with which we're going after anybody who's caught with a small amount of marijuana. It looks like under this new version of the bill there would be the opportunity for people to basically get a speeding ticket and not be taken to jail.
