Beto O'Rourke is making headlines today after his debate performance in Houston during the Democratic Presidential Debate.

During the debate, O'Rourke was asked about his position on guns and so-called "assault weapons."


His position is a relatively new one, and much different than a year ago when he was running against Senator Ted Cruz in Texas.

In an interview in April 2018, O'Rourke told The Chad Hasty Show on KFYO that he did not want to confiscate guns, and that responsible owners of AR-15s should be allowed to keep them.

O'Rourke's flip flop has been noticed by many on social media, with the video above making its way around Twitter. O'Rourke's idea of taking away guns has also been met with pushback from those on the right and left.
