These Are Some Of The Best Places To Go Fishing In Texas in September
We are getting closer to fall in Texas and that means temperatures can be up and down, but at least we aren't consistently in the upper 90's across the Lone Star State anymore. And that means the fishing weather is even better.
In Texas, we have many great places to go fishing. Whether it's a neighborhood pond, the Gulf, or at your favorite lake, Texas has plenty of places to fish and have a great time. But how do you know where the fish are biting? Or at least where you have a better chance of catching something.
The answer? The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department

Best Lakes To Be Fishing At Right Now in Texas
The Texas Parks and Wildlife website updates each week their fishing report site. Fishing reports are normally updated by Thursday morning and the information is collected by a third party who spoke with fishing guides, marinas, and bait shops.
You can use the guide to help you find a good spot to fish at a Texas lake or in the Gulf.

Here are some examples of lakes across Texas and how they are looking this week.
- Alan Henry
- FAIR. 83 degrees; 2.26 feet below pool. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows in 18-28 feet over brush. Report by Randy Britton, The Bait Shop, Post, Texas.
- Meredith
- GREAT. Water stained; 79 degrees; 43.12 feet below pool. Bass fishing is great with sand bass caught everywhere around the lake morning, day and night. Chartreuse and pink jig-heads have been productive with orange sherbet or pearl white grubs. Blue crankbaits, shad fat free fingerling and minnows have been effective for both largemouth and smallmouth. Catfish action is great with channel and blue catfish caught on frozen shrimp, catfish punch bait and cut bait. Several have been caught off the dock this week.
- Nasworthy
- GOOD. Water slightly stained; 85 degrees; 1.05 feet below pool. The largemouth bass bite has been good flipping soft plastics around reed bases in 1-3 feet of water. The bass are staying in the shallows but seeking the shadiest places possible around reeds. Do not be afraid to flip back into the thickest cover you can find. The key is to cover water until you find a good stretch that holds multiple bass. Crappie were fair around main lake boat docks on chartreuse jigs and catfish were fair on cut bait and stink bait around river channel bends. Report by Riley Hindes, Angelo State Fishing Team.
