Attempted Dollar General Theft in Lubbock Turns Into Brawl Between Suspect and Employee
It's said that an attempted theft at a local Dollar General escalated into a fight between the suspect and an employee.
KAMC News reports that 34-year-old David Rodriguez was caught trying to steal from the Dollar General at 2226 19th Street by an employee. To stop Rodriguez from leaving, the employee locked the front door.
Allegedly, Rodriguez responded by wrapping his arms under the employee's arms and behind his head. They both eventually ended up on the ground, and the employee managed to get Rodriguez in a headlock. During the altercation, Rodriguez is said to have punched the employee several times in the back.
Another employee managed to break up the fight, telling the employee involved in the fight that it was against Dollar General's policy. Rodriguez then left, telling the employee he fought with: "I'm gonna see you on the street."
Rodriguez was located by police soon after they arrived at the scene. He was arrested and booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center for robbery and an unrelated warrant. His bond was set at $5,000 for the robbery charge.
