It seems like every day, because of the fear of Bat's Head Flu, we hear of another reason to never leave the house and indulge in the things that we appreciate and have enjoyed for generations. Here in The Republic of Texas, for the most part, we have chosen to not live in fear and continue to live like as only we know how.

Then, comes a story that makes even the most hardened of us stop in our tracks, and reassess who the real enemy might be.

According to a new study, researchers are studying the possibility that Whitetail Deer, which become inexplicably infected with Covid-19, may act as "reservoirs" for the virus, and potentially infect humans with the SARS CoV-2 virus. In a study of free-range and captive deer last winter, more than 80% of those studied tested positive for Coronavirus.

EIGHTY PERCENT.

The study also suggests that the deer may have originally been infected by HUMANS, and then spread it amongst themselves.

"Based on the genomic information, we were able to demonstrate that the source of the virus to the deer was indeed human beings," lead researcher Dr. Suresh Kuchipudi told FOX Television Stations Monday.

However, that's not all. From Fox:

"Since SARS-CoV-2 infects animals as well as humans, it is plausible that an infected animal could indeed infect human beings," he added.

Yep, Bambi can give you The 'Rona.

Now, when last I checked, hunters usually practice a level of social distancing, in order to ply their trade. But, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't take more than the usual precautions. If you need to mask up as part of your camouflage, so be it. Also, keep your distance from other hunters, especially this guy, who has been speculated to be "Patient Zero" in the Deer-COVID infection fight...
