A Reconstructed Legacy Play Village Is Coming in 2020
A playground design company called Play by Design has unveiled new plans for the Legacy Play Village in West Lubbock.
The Legacy Play Village was shut down in August 2018 due to multiple instances of vandalism in addition to maintenance and upkeep issues.
The old playground notably had structures mostly made of wood, but playground designer Laura Sehn told KAMC News that the new Legacy Play Village will be made of materials that are easier to maintain and clean.
The Legacy Play Village hosted a Design Day on July 20th, in which kids and their families were invited to give their ideas for the new design. Sehn said one of the most requested features not included in the original plan is a splash pad, which she said wasn't out of the question.
The project to reconstruct the Legacy Play Village will cost between $500,000 and $1 million dollars and should be completed by October 2020.
