The newest in home building will be available for the public to see in Lubbock soon.

The 2012 Parade of Homes will kick off on Saturday, June 9th.

Sponsored by the West Texas Home Builders Association, this year’s Parade of Homes will feature homes in three neighborhoods, including Bacon Crest, the Canyons at Cooper Ridge, and Fountain Hills Estates.

As a response to the area’s recent drought and water restrictions, each home featured in this year’s event showcases Smartscape landscaping, which uses native plants that need less water than many others often used in landscaping.

Also to be featured at the event is a home built by the West Texas Home Builders Association under Lubbock Homes for Heroes, which will allow a disabled veteran and his family to live mortgage free in the home, located in the Bacon Crest neighborhood.

The 2012 Parade of Homes runs from June 9th to June 24th, and is active from 6 to 9 p.m. weekdays and 3 to 9 p.m. on weekends.
