A Texas Tech baseball pitcher has been ranked among the top 20 college baseball prospects by a publication.

Junior right-handed pitcher Trey Masek has been named as the No. 22 Major League Baseball draft prospect by Baseball America.

Masek, a Giddings, Texas native, was named to the list in the publication’s Top 100 College Players list for the 2013 MLB Draft.

The Red Raider was the highest ranked prospect in Texas, and second highest in the Big 12 Conference.

Masek has played in 34 games for Tech, and started in 17. He has posted seven wins, a 4.12 ERA, and 120 innings pitched with 79 strikeouts during his Tech career.

Last year, Tech’s Barrett Barnes ranked 72nd in the top 100 prospects by Baseball America, and went on to be selected 45th overall in the supplemental first round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
