Research Balloon Launch Spurs UFO Reports Across West Texas

Law enforcement across the region received thousands of calls yesterday after two NASA research balloons were launched from the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Fort Sumner, NM. The balloons, which hovered around 115,000 feet above Canyon, Texas and Clovis NM were visible around sunset. Officials say the balloons are usually launched in the fall.
