On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Ted Cruz talked with Chad about the senate race and other major issues.

Cruz said that he is grateful that so many conservatives and Tea Partiers have gotten behind his campaign. He said that even though his opponent David Dewhurst has more name recognition than him, the recent poll number are very encouraging.

"...primary voters in Texas don't want a moderate career politician in Washington. They want a strong conservative who's got the backbone to take on Obama and to stop the war on Texas."

Cruz also talked about the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), saying hat he is against the act and that it's important to protect the freedom and vibrancy of the Internet. He also called President Obama's decision to halt the Keystone Pipeline project "absolutely crazy."
