On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Rep. Randy Neugebauer said he was not surprised by the decision of  S&P to downgrade the U.S credit rating to AA+.

“I think the downgrade reflects the current state of play,” Neugebauer said.

“I don’t think it was necessarily unwarranted.  I’ve been saying all along that we just cannot continue to go down this road.  I think S&P has been saying that for months, that we do have a big deficit, a big spending problem."

Neugebauer said the decision was "probably justified."
