Dr. Christopher Coyne Explains Why Foreign And Humanitarian Aid Dollars Are Often Wasted [INTERVIEW]
Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, Dr. Christopher Coyne and Dr. Benjamin Powell joined Hasty in the KFYO studio to talk about their upcoming event, The Fatal Conceit of Foreign Intervention. The presentation deals with the many negative aspects of foreign intervention and aid by the United States.
While discussing different aspects of foreign aid, and in the case of natural disasters, humanitarian aid and how the money provided is often misspent, Coyne said,
Anytime you inject millions of dollars into a situation where there is corruption, lack of transparency, lack of accountability, we all know what happens, which is, funds get wasted, misallocated, and ends up in the hands of a few.
Dr. Coyne is the Harper Professor of Economics at George Mason University, and Dr. Powell is Director of the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University.
The event is free, and takes place tomorrow night (Thursday, October 20, 2016) from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m at the Grand Auditorium in the Rawls College of Business Administration.
Coyne is the author or co-author of many books, including Perfecting Tyranny: Foreign Intervention and the Loss of Liberty at Home , and Doing Bad by Doing Good: Why Humanitarian Action Fails.
