A Brownfield ISD bus carrying 26 students caught fire Thursday morning (Oct. 29) while traveling on U.S. Highway 62/92.

According to KAMC News, the students were still on the bus when it caught fire, reportedly after a tire blowout.

Brownfield ISD Superintendent Dr. Tanya Monroe said that the cause of the fire was possibly a tire blowout that occurred while the bus was travelling through Wolfforth. When the driver pulled over to investigate the issue, he noticed smoke coming from the bus.

The students were able to evacuate safely from the bus and no injuries have been reported.
